1.做动词“拥有”，普通词汇

His father owns a local pub.

他父亲在当地有一家酒馆。

作动词“承认”，用法比较特殊：

own to sth/to doing sth承认

He owned to a feeling of guilt.

他承认有歉疚感。

She owned (that) she had been present.

她承认她当时在场。

own up to sth坦白承认……

Last year my husband owned up to a secret affair with his secretary.

去年丈夫向我坦白了他与秘书的私情。

2. adj./pron.(用于强调)自己的;本人的;自己做的;为自己的

一般用法是：物主代词+own+名词，

但这个时候own可以放在物主代词的后面，构成独立的名词短语（即名词省略不再出现）。特别是当与own有关的名词已在前面出现时，就可以采用这种结构。但是，不是绝对的。如：

My own view is absolutely clear. What I did was right
